Saving Young Minds, Inc. is the creation of Alberto Gamarra, Ph. D.. Alberto is a resident of Weston, FL and has been involved in South Florida
athletics for over 40 years. As a youth he played club soccer at State Select and Junior Olympic levels. His roots in this
community began with his father, Dr. Miguel Gamarra, a founding member of the South Florida Soccer League. Throughout the
years, Alberto has been a part of many of the great soccer experiences this community has provided, from the FYSA State Cup,
FHSAA State Finals, Pizza Hut Invitational in Orlando, FL, and AAU Junior Olympic teams, to sitting in the stands during the
80's with the Ft. Lauderdale Strikers and the 90's Orlando venue for the World Cup. Now Alberto is trying to use those experiences
and his training as a School Psychologist to ensure that student-athletes of all ages experience athletic competition in a
safe and productive manner. Recent media accounts of retired Star Athletes suffering from suspected "post-concussion"
syndrome or CTE has brought to light many of the obstacles to preventing, identifying, and treating sports-related concussions.
Through Saving Young Minds, Inc., Dr. Gamarra will try to get this message to parents, coaches, and athletes of all ages.
Sports can be fun and safe at all levels with the right information, preparation, and support.
